mBot has three modes of operation:

  • IR/Manual - Button A
  • Obstacle Avoidance - Button B
  • Line Following - Button C

IR/Manual in turn has two modes:

  • The first is IR Control Mode. This involves coding, which we shall learn later.
  • The second is Manual Mode, allowing you to operate mBot manually without coding.

Having assembled our mBot, this mode is the best way to try it out and get familiar with it.

We shall learn the Manual Mode in this chapter.
